Want To Lose Weight in 2010?Try These 3 Fundamentals

Posted by: admin

December 31st, 2009 >> Healthy Weight Loss

Everyone looks forward to the holiday season because of the time to relax, indulge, and visit. What no one looks forward to is the period directly after it, when the scales are dusted off and read. It may seem impossible to stick to your weekly workout plan or your diet plan when the whole family is over and grandma’s famous apple pie is on the table, but there are ways to do it.

It takes a little effort and planning, but the reward is great.

1. Smaller Portions

One of the main and most effective things you can do is to control what you eat and how much you eat. Again, this may seem like a large demand, but it is manageable. Try not to eat a lot just because the food is there. A good trick is to either give yourself a smaller plate to eat from, or to eat from a bowl.

This way, your hunger is satisfied in both your eyes and your mouth. Portions are key. You need not eat until you are about to burst. Eat enough to satisfy your stomach and then leave the table. Not only will you lessen your future weight gain, you will also avoid the stuffed feeling that leaves everyone tired.

2. Exercise As Part Of Your Day

Next, try to exercise whenever you get the chance. Go on a walk with your siblings, or get up and jog in the morning. Do you have family members who are young children? Play with them. Run out in the yard, toss them in the air and catch them, or spin them around. All of these activities are loved by them, and can burn carbohydrates quickly.

3.Exercise With Family Invite your family to join you in exercise.

Most people know they should be getting a few minutes of exercise in each day anyway. Having company makes it better. Invite all of the adults to the gym and have a teenaged family member watch the kids.

Make it fun by having some sort of sports tournament. There are plenty of options, and the fact that a group is going to exercise will encourage even the most difficult family members. The holidays are great for relaxation, but remember your goals for your weight and health.

What good is being immensely happy during the season only to be terribly frustrated after it? Along with planning out the holiday season schedule, plan out when you will exercise. Your health and your weight will thank you for it.

Please Help – What Causes Cold Sores To Pop Up All The Time?

Posted by: admin

December 31st, 2009 >> Healthy Weight Loss

What causes cold sores to develop? Great question. Knowing your actual causes of cold sores is important for fast, effective healing and positive prevention.

What causes cold sores for all people is basically the herpes simplex virus, type 1 or 2. Do not be embarrassed. Estimates are that close to 90% of the population carries this virus.

You probably know that. But, what is most important for you to know are the three primary triggers that activate an otherwise dormant herpes virus. These triggers are the most common causes of cold sores.

When the herpes virus activates, it will wiggle its way to the surface along a nerve fiber and invade the cells there. This parasite type virus takes control and forces your cells to build new copies of itself.

The cells swell as they fill up with new virus particles and finally they rupture open. This spills out hoards of new virus and another painful open sore is the result.

Below are three of the main triggers that activate the herpes virus. You will find these to be your actual causes of cold sores.

1. YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS TOO WEAK.

Your antibody soldiers are designed specifically to defend you from pathogens such as the herpes virus. The vitality and potency of these determines the strength of your immune system.

Your vitamin and mineral intake from food and supplements is very important. They are critically important for building effective antibodies.

If you get frequent sores, it is a very positive sign your immune system needs a boost.

Increase your intake of fresh and raw vegetables and fruits if possible. Food always provides the highest quality and absorption of essential nutrients.

For optimal results, it is important you start taking a top-shelf vitamin and mineral supplement. For many people, this is all they need to do to stop their cold sores.

But one big mistake many folks make is buying those one or two per day grocery store vitamins. You must use premium quality vitamin and mineral supplements or you will get no results.

High content of all vitamins is important. Some of the most important for your needs here are high amounts of vitamins A, C, E and the B family. Also, calcium, magnesium and zinc are necessary minerals for this purpose.

2. ARGININE QUANTITIES ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN LYSINE.

Arginine and lysine are two very common proteins (amino acids) that are important to good health. They are both found, in varying degrees, in most common meats and vegetables we eat. Both of these greatly influence your cold sore events.

Arginine is the one essential protein for building new herpes virus. Without an ample supply of arginine, it is impossible for the herpes virus to create new virus copies. It will not create a new sore.

The herpes simplex virus is not able to use lysine protein to build new virus copies.

Your cells use the same storage area within the cell for both arginine and lysine. The more of one you supply your cells with, the less of the other will be stored.

Flooding your cells with lysine crowds out the arginine and effectively prevents cold sores. Lysine, as a cold sore treatment, is one of the easiest and best remedies you can use.

Dairy products, especially from Wisconsin, are particularly high in lysine and useful for raising your lysine levels. The majority of folks, however, find lysine capsules are easy and most convenient.

3. YOUR pH LEVEL IS TOO ACID.

When your pH is alkaline on average, it is nearly impossible for a virus to make you sick. On the pH scale of 1 through 14, 7 is neutral. Alkaline is above 7 and acid is below 7.

Your pH will commonly vary between 6.6 and 7.35 pH. When you drop below 7, you are becoming acid and your resistance to disease is greatly reduced. If you are prone to outbreaks, this alone will often activate an otherwise dormant herpes virus.

Your tissue oxygen levels continue to drop the more acid you become. These are perfect conditions for the herpes virus to successfully replicate.

Avoid acid causing foods such as white flour, sugar and carbonated drinks. Eat more green vegetables. Cabbage and asparagus are top choices for this. Also, many people keep their pH levels alkaline by using kits available for this purpose at most good vitamin outlets.

There you have it. The triggers mentioned above are the three most common situations that cause a cold sore. There are other advanced triggers, but knowing how these three affect your outbreaks will be the biggest help to you right now.

And keep in mind, discovering what causes cold sores for you is a must for erasing outbreaks from your life for good. Take care and you will be cold sore free in no time.

Throwing Gum on the Sidewalk (Growing Up Smart Bad Habit #16)

Posted by: admin

December 31st, 2009 >> Healthy Weight Loss

Chewing gum is a type of confection traditionally made from tree sap, like chicle that comes from the sapodilla tree native to Central and South America. Natural chicle is a type of rubber that softens as it warms in your mouth. Like a mouthful of rubber bands, the chicle doesn’t dissolve when you chew it.

Nowadays, for reasons of quality and economy, most chewing gum is made from an artificial man-made chicle, or synthetic rubber known as polyisobutylene. You should know that polyisobutylene is also used to make adhesives, agricultural chemicals, fiber optic compounds, caulk, sealant, 2-cycle engine oil, paper, and it’s used as a gasoline/diesel fuel additive. Sounds tasty!

Chewing on a piece of rubber isn’t very appealing, of course. So the people that make chewing gum mix the rubber with sugar and flavorings, like cinnamon, mint, wintergreen, and all kinds of fruit. When you chew it, the rubber releases the flavor into your mouth. M-m-m-m.

Once the flavor is gone, now what? Chewing gum can’t be recycled like a plastic milk jug. It has no redeeming quality or use once the flavor is gone. Likely this is why so much of it ends up on the sidewalk and the bottom of your Sunday-go-to-meeting shoes, not to mention the underside of chairs and tables.

Chewing Gum Dos and Don’ts

•    Chew with your mouth closed. You are not a cud-chewing cow.
•    Avoid making noises as you chew. Cracking and popping noises are for July 4th celebrations, not gum chewing.
•    Don’t swallow your gum. It contains none of your required daily allowances of vitamins and minerals.
•    Wrap your ABC (Already Been Chewed) gum in paper and dispose of it in a waste container.

CONSIDER THIS: Contrary to what you’ve heard, swallowed gum does not remain in your stomach for seven years, although it does stay on the bottom of your shoe for about that long.

A Little Known Weight Loss Secret: Fat Burning Made Easy

Posted by: Kervin Fahie

December 31st, 2009 >> Diets for Weight Loss

Most people go about losing weight the wrong way. They try diet pills, low-fat diets, or low-carb diets that just don’t work. They don’t realize that the key to fast weight-loss is to find a strategy that works with your body to help facilitate weight-loss the natural way.

Have you ever noticed how fat the people are who are on fat-controlled diets? They are constantly looking out for “fatty” foods, in order to avoid them — yet they don’t lose a single pound! This alone should show you that “low-fat” and “no-fat” diets don’t work.

One other type of diet that people often try and that’s also very ineffective is the low-carb diet. These diets will help you lose water-weight for a few weeks, but then the weight loss ceases. Furthermore, because of the acidity of the diet, you’ll feel terrible and probably have a terrible body odor as well. Worse yet, you probably won’t be able to eat at a restaurant while on this diet — the food won’t be on your diet plan.

A lot of people look outside of their own body to the foods they’re eating to help them lose weight. But they don’t look inward, and ask how they can use the foods they’re eating to actually enhance their metabolic function, and speed up the burning of fat. The reality is that the food you eat has a huge impact on your metabolic rate and on the “fat-burning hormones” your body releases. By carefully controlling what you eat, you can convince your body to burn fat and lose weight a lot more quickly.

It’s not just what you eat that’s important — it’s how you eat it. Most people eat 3 meals a day, simply because that’s how they were brought up. However, the best way to lose weight really involves eating more often. This helps to lose weight by increasing your metabolism, and burning fat quicker.

Weight-loss gurus have recently discovered a method called “calorie shifting“. The method is based on the principle that every day, your body tries to burn the same number of calories that you eat. If you plan your diet carefully over the course of a week, you can utilize calorie shifting to cause your body to burn more fat than it normally would. A lot of people have lost a lot of fat using this technique alone.

Every day, people make a decision to lose weight. Unfortunately, many of them don’t succeed, because they continue to use ineffective techniques. As Einstein once said, if you want to succeed, it’s important to recognize what doesn’t work and change it. To keep doing the same thing and hoping for a different result is insanity!

Most people aren’t looking for new ways to lose weight. Yet every day great new discoveries are made in this area! If you were to try some of these new techniques, instead of repeating the same old things that don’t work, you might find that you can start to lose weight very quickly, and lose fat without ever taking a single diet pill.

Are you one of two-thirds of Americans that are overweight or obese? Kervin’s website on fat/weight loss will show you all about the radical new technique called calorie shifting, what you can do to slim down your waistline, and how to keep it slim. You can get a unique content version of this article from the Uber Article Directory.

Which Exercises Will Make Me Lose Weight The Fastest?

Posted by: Stephanie Wilkinsen

December 31st, 2009 >> Diet

Quite a few areas of concern can create a host of problems for people today. Some of these are naturally occurring, and can’t be helped. The best strategy is to learn to live with them. Other problems can easily be addressed and fixed through behavior modification. If you are suffering from being overweight, this is a problem that can easily be fixed with the right behaviors.

There are two simple ways to address the problem of being overweight or obese. Despite how many million different systems there are to help you to lose weight, they all boil down to two distinct factors. Exercise, and diet. In this article, I’ll be talking about exercises to lose weight. No matter what diet or eating plan you are considering, they must be accompanied by some kind of physical activity to get the most benefit.

When you break down exercise, there are two different categories. Aerobic, and anaerobic. Aerobic largely burns oxygen and body fat for energy, and anaerobic burns stored sugars for energy. Aerobic exercises, or cardiovascular exercises as they are sometimes called, include running, cycling, walking, swimming, or any other exercise that lasts more than a few minutes.

What about strength training? Anything that requires a short burst of energy and then quickly leaves you out of breath. Weight training and wind sprints are two of the most popular.

Which are best for weight loss? With endurance training, or cardiovascular training, you’ll burn more fat while doing the actual exercise. With strength training, you’ll increase the amount of lean muscle mass, which in turn will increase your metabolism. This means you can burn fat while watching TV, or sleeping.

Most people find a healthy mix is best. Do a couple days a week of endurance training, and do a couple days a week of strength training. Some even prefer to both every day, doing some body weight exercises in the morning, and having a brisk walk in the evening. Whatever you feel most comfortable with will work best for you.

To find out how so many have discovered the way to effortlessly Exercises To Lose Weight, have a look at Stephanie Wilkinsen’s fat burning Weight Loss Exercises page.
